Have you ever published a rejected manuscript?

Several times!

I call Consequence of His Revenge the book I rejected myself. The longer story is that I came very close to being my first sale, but for reasons that were largely fear-based, I shelved it and started the book that did become my first sale, No Longer Forbidden.

Dante and Cami then sat on my hard drive for four years while I published so many other books for Harlequin and Tule and myself.

Finally, I worked up the nerve to look at it again and I really liked it so I revised and submitted it and it sold right away.

More recently, I dug up a book that had been rejected so long ago that my characters were using that cross between a pager and a cellphone called a PDA: Personal Digital Assistant. (?!)

I gave that a read and still liked a lot about it, but I also saw why it wasn’t suitable as a Harlequin Presents. Even so, I liked it enough to give it a light edit–turning all those PDA references in to smartphones–and it’s now available on my shop.
