An erotic Victorian novelette
Suddenly widowed, Viola Stanley has one chance to hold onto all she gained with her marriage to a duke: she must be pregnant with the heir. She’s not. Her overbearing mother-in-law suggests she seduce a fellow peer, but Viola has a better idea.
Nelson, loyal footman to the dowager, is shocked when the young Duchess of Yeadonfell propositions him, revealing a secret about his parentage that makes him the perfect candidate to father her child. Normally, he likes humiliation, but everyone seems to know he’s the half-brother of the recently deceased duke except him!
A heated race to conceive ensues. Viola and Nelson are drawn closer, but what will happen when the deed is done? They both remain under the thumb of the dowager…unless the confidence Nelson provokes in Viola can be expressed outside of the bedroom?

Excerpt
“Did you tread on my gown?” Viola Stanley, Duchess of Yeadonfell, whirled on her footman, Nelson.
He was taken aback and instantly reddened.
Viola read his horror at being called out in public here on the stoop of her London townhouse, in front of the dowager and everyone else in the courtyard who were leaving for the same ball.
“No-no, your grace. I would never.” His usual composure was completely scattered. His confused gaze met hers, asking, Why are you doing this here? Now?
Then that light, that precious light of adoration in his eyes before he dropped his gaze, abashed at having looked his superior in the eye. His Adam’s apple bobbed, and his brow pleated in suffering. He shifted his weight, no doubt growing aroused.
