FAQ Category: About the Books

Can I get an early copy of your book?

One of the best ways to get your hands on an early copy of my Harlequin Presents is to buy directly from Harlequin.com. In the UK, you can buy Mills & Boon Modern from Mills & Boon UK.

Both publishers offer their books one month before the official release day. Eg. If my book is releasing on April 1st, you can buy it from Harlequin on March 1st.

Other publishers have different schedules and arrangements, but if you are a reviewer, watch for my books on Netgalley. If I’m told my book is there, I will usually tweet it or add an announcement here on site. To be notified auto-magically, join my What’s New feed from my subscribe page.

Is Murphy a real dog?

Yes! Murphy, from On The Edge and the Blue Spruce Lodge series, is based on a goofy mutt who lives with my sister and her husband. Sometimes I refer to Murphy as a rescue, but as with many people who adore their pets, it’s a toss up who rescued whom in their family.

My brother-in-law was visiting his parents when he found Murphy running amok without a collar. He took him to the local SPCA who said his owner had tried to turn him over a few hours before. He was from out of town and seemed to have turned Murphy loose as a solution to his problem. Maybe the dog wasn’t traveling well? We don’t know.

In any case, my brother-in-law left him there, but he has a history of busting dogs out of jail. It didn’t take twenty-four hours before he was back there, bringing Murphy home.

Murphy was not fully grown, which became tricky at the apartment they were leasing. He was bigger than what they typically allowed, but a few life changes later, they moved into a house with a back yard and a dog park nearby.

He’s the kind of dog who needs his exercise or he goes squirrelly. Here he is acting like one–a squirrel, I mean.

You seem to write a lot of different types of romance. Why?

I tried a lot of things on my journey to publication, which gave me a taste for trying a lot of things. I wrote Hustled To The Altar, The Healer, and the Secret Dreams Duet long before I published.

Shortly after I sold No Longer Forbidden? to Harlequin Presents, I had an opportunity come up with Tule and wrote Hometown Hero for Montana Born.

I discovered I really enjoyed writing small town romance along with the high fantasy of Presents, but I also had a lot of manuscripts on the hard drive that didn’t fit either of those publishers.

I’ve now indie published a lot of those orphans because I can.

Is there a sequel to Cruel Summer?

Yes! It’s called Blessed Winter. It’s a no-room-at-the-inn romance starring Brock, the brother of the groom in Cruel Summer, and Pandora, a pregnant waitress alone on Christmas Eve.

The catch is, Blessed Winter is written by Glory, my heroine from On The Edge. So you can only read Blessed Winter by reading On The Edge.

It’s more of an Easter egg than a Christmas book, now I come to think of it. Let’s call it a stocking stuffer, maybe?

I set it up like a real book, though, and made a cover for it, since it has a plot and everything. Read more about it here, but if you follow the buy links, they’ll take you to On The Edge.

What is Secrets of the A-List?

It’s an exciting serial that is different from all of my other work.

These are not complete novels, but rather episodes like a soap opera with many cliff-hanger endings and exciting plot twists. You’ll want to read the episodes in numerical order to avoid spoilers. Mine is episode ten.

Even though this series is more family drama than romance, I was drawn to the Presents-like setting in Santa Barbara and the luxury lifestyle of the Marshall family. If you are a fan of The Affair, Brothers & Sisters, Dirty Sexy Money, Billions, The Sopranos, Dynasty, and Revenge, you’ll love this series. Here’s a little more about it from Harlequin:

The prestigious Marshall family is America’s best-kept secret. Their business is fixing the screw-ups of the super rich – from infidelity to embezzlement to…well, anything! Only when family patriarch, Harrison, is in accident that leaves him in a coma – his wife Mariella discovers some startling truths about her husband—and about the secrets he has been keeping from her.

Why has he so much cash? Why doesn’t she have power of attorney? And who is this mysterious figure referred to as The Fixer who has been calling the shots behind her back? So begins a power battle for control of the business—and the family. And ultimately to being torn between her sense of right and wrong…and protecting her husband, her family…at any price!
